The Star Model B is a single-action, short recoil pistol, manufactured with an all-steel frame and slide, checkered wooden grips, manual safety, and an 8-round magazine. Visually reminiscent of the Colt 1911.

In 1931, production shifted entirely to this updated version which added several, mostly external, features to make the pistol look and handle more like the Colt 1911A1. The frame was changed to provide an arched backstrap and a larger safety as well as more rugged and higher-visibility sights were fitted. Numerous small changes were implemented across the design, from a shortening of the barrel bushing to the elimination of the separate safety guide bar.

This 2nd Gen Model B remained in production continuously until 1983, a 52-year production run. During the Second World War, Spain was officially neutral. Spain provided material support to the Axis powers, specifically Nazi Germany. And one of their exports was Star Model B (second generation) handguns. After the war, Spain continued to supply West Germany With the Star Model B. Other police/military also adopted the Star B, as well it was commercially available
