The Mauser HSr is a newly produced .22 LR pistol, featuring a 3.5" threaded barrel, slide safety, 10-round magazine, and a decocker. It is based on the historic WWII Mauser HSc.
The original Mauser HSc is a 7.65mm (.32 ACP) pistol was developed in 1934 and officially introduced in 1936. However, production began in 1940. Introduced in Nazi Germany during World War II and manufactured until 1977. The designation "HSc" stands for "Hahn Selbstspanner" ("self-cocking hammer") Pistol, third design ("C"). Production continued in 1945-1946 during the French occupation and from 1968 to 1977 by Mauser. Like the HSr, the HSc features a semi-exposed hammer, double-action trigger, single-column magazine, and a barrel-surrounding recoil spring.
The primary differences between the HSr and the HSc, aside from the caliber, are in their takedown systems. The HSr has a modern, simplified takedown mechanism similar to the Walther PPK, compared to the absolute rubrics design of the original HSc.
