In the 1990, after the excessive trials, South Korean army adopted the first domestically designed 9mm pistol, the K5. Developed and manufactured in Korea by the Daewoo Precision Industries branch of the Daewoo Corporation, the K5 pistol is now the standard sidearm of the armed forces of South Korea. It is also offered for export. The basic 9mm K5 is sold as Daewoo DP-51
Daewoo K5 / DP51 pistol is a short recoil-operated, locked breech weapon. It uses a conventional Browning-type locking system. It features a unique trigger system called a "Triple Action" trigger. Simply put, the trigger can be set to offer the length of travel in double action with the trigger weight of a single action. The idea behind this was to create a safer carry method with improved first-shot accuracy.
To engage the "Triple Action" once chambered simply push the hammer forward. This will set the trigger in the double action position with a single action trigger weight.
